Saturday the 24th saw the annual Walton Casuals Juniors Quiz Night fundraiser taking place, for the first time, at our new home the Sports Hub. The turnout in the end – and thanks to the great efforts of Isabel Hargreaves, Frederique Driessen and Jo Scannella – was quite good, with 11 teams represented and nearly 90 people enjoying a few drinks, a fine curry (from the ‘Khyber Pass‘) and a lot of laughs.

The title of ‘Brainiest WCJ Team’ has been held for the past 3 years by Neil Foxhall, and his parents from the U13 Panthers. Their team was once more favourites and it was a shock when they finished up as runners-up to last place. (There has been an investigation, due to unusual betting patterns, but as far as can be ascertained the drastic fall in performance was natural.)

The Quiz itself was organised and delivered by ex-Chairman and Coach of the U12 Lions, Kevin Ingram who – true to his roots – was able to include a question in each round that harked back to Wales. – You didn’t think I noticed did you, Kev.

The battle for top spot was hard fought for and in doubt right up until the last round, when a half-point lead by Richard Murray’s ‘Muzz Mafia’ (U15 Blacks) was overturned by Mark Mcinerney’s ‘Mighty Stripes’.

Congratulations to the U12 Tigers and we look forward to next year’s contest!

Thank you again to Isabel, Freddie, Jo and Kevin who did a wonderful job in organising the event and in raising £505 for the Club!

The much studied score card!
