Bears came into today’s game with 2 influential players missing in Dan and Ollie T. How would the Bears hold up?

We lined up in a 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 formation anticipating that Moormead would present a real threat looking at their previous 3 wins on the bounce.

nstructions were to play football and be switched on from the start, play short sharp passing as we have been doing in training.

However the Bears seemed to forget everything when the whistle went as our passing was lacklustre and our desire to press the ball was non existent. Moormead took full advantage of that and worked an opening inside the first couple of minutes but Mattie was alert to stop it.

Bears continue to match Moormead now with passing and moving, looking dangerous every time we go forward. But when our attacks broke down we did look vulnerable to the Moormead counter attack as we didn’t get organised quick enough. And ultimately we got caught out as Moormead go through on goal and Jaiden does his best to stop the attacker and tackles him with what looked like a decent challenge just outside the box but the ref deemed it otherwise and points to the spot. (It was very close) Moormead take the opportunity well and leave Mattie with no chance. 33 mins played and it’s level at 2-2.

The Bears were treated to a half time team talk by our first team manager Anthony Gale (who had been watching our game), he tells them that they are better than Moormead and need to have the confidence to go out there and express themselves. He believed the Bears could win this game comfortably if they start to pass the ball and play with confidence as they have done in previous game. Anthony then asked the boys if the believed they could do it before leaving the changing room to a roar of yes.

The management reciprocated Anthony’s words informing the Bears that they needed to up the work rate and be confident with the ball at their feet.

We took a long time to wake up today but once we did our football prevailed against a very good Moormead side who also wanted to play football.

The Bears dug in and made it count….a great game to watch and a fantastic result especially considering how good Moormead were and the fact we were without both Dan and Ollie….

Man of the match today could have easily gone to 1 of 4 players, Nathan again for his never ending willingness to battle in the middle, Josh B for his 2 goals and 2 assists and Harry for his 4 assists and 1 goal. But today the medal went to James, what a superb addition the Bears team he is and will be moving forward. 4 goals, 1 assist and a work rate to match on his debut. Well done James and welcome to the BEARS.
